The Amazing Technicolour Pyjama Therapy

Pyjamas_cover_1This book is for people living with a life changing illness and for people who love the sick.

I fell ill in my twenties. I was a busy young mum, working as a doctor and juggling a busy, happy life. I was in the pit of illness and disability for twenty three years; I’m just climbing out and reassessing now.

How did I cope with all that? I’d say badly, if at all. But over the years I slowly learned some useful things about hope, vision, relationships, emotional issues, symptoms, spiritual well being, the mystery of healing and the crucial importance of humour.

When I decided to write the book, I asked a lot of sick people to share their war stories and tips. We found the wonderful David McNeill to sprinkle cartoons throughout the text; see some of his work here. I went looking for a Bible hero and came up with Joseph, that guy with the amazing technicolour dreamcoat and the hard, hard life. I dug deep into my own experience to help others see that they aren’t alone after all. All these elements built a book that I hope will comfort, envision and inform any sick person.
